Do you think beauty in the eye of the beholder is a dumb statement?

I mean realistically everyone finds Megan Fox, Jess. Alba, Brad Pitt etc. incredibly attractive. They all have some common features (which im not discussing). Seriously i think there is a standard of beauty and that statement is just said to make ugly people feel good. Realistically everyone decides in the first 5 seconds (or less) weather someone is hot or not (im talking strictly physical beauty). And i think people that end up with someone they didnt initially find attractive just gave up on finding a worthwhile good looking person cuz either no one really likes them or their desperate.Do you think beauty in the eye of the beholder is a dumb statement?
I disagree completely, and once you've loved someone over a span of time, you will, too. Now, you're just young and kind of bitter, sounds like.

Sure, the people you named are hot. They're sexually attractive. Goodie for them. Fantasize all you like.

But a love relationship, which may start with a sexual attraction or may start with something else, soon goes past that. Your partner is attractive to you not because s/he's totally hot but because you totally love him or her, and vice versa.

My husband had an illness which he survived but which aged him dramatically. I find him no less attractive. I really don't. What attracts me about him isn't his superficial appearance but who he is, and that's better than ever.Do you think beauty in the eye of the beholder is a dumb statement?
i think it's true

iv'e liked people who others just think is plain ugly

but i don't care... cause he looks good in my eyes (:

it just depends on what you like i think
no
No I don't believe this to be a dumb statement, the people you mentioned I don't think are attractive, so everyone has their view of what is considered beautiful or ugly for that matter.
I don't think it's a dumb statement. What's considered beautiful in one culture could be easily considered hideous in another. However, by my opinion, a lot more ';ugly'; people are breeding than ';beautiful'; ones, so the human race is getting progressively ';uglier'; over time.
I don't think it's a dumb statement.

But yes, in the first five seconds, we notice physical appearance and judge on that first. It's human nature.

But once you get to know the person is when you find out how beautiful they really are. Like the statement, beauty is on the inside. Or however it goes. Because that's where it TRULY is. That's TRUE beauty. Yes, you can be pretty on the outside, but if you're a jerk, then you're not TRULY beautiful.

Because think about it, do you get along with a person for their looks, or their personality?

That's how you find someone attractive. Yeah, you notice people on the street or in school or at work, and maybe think ';oh, he's cute. or she's pretty'; but then when you actually get to know them determines whether you want to hang out with them, or be with them.

Because that's how I find people more attractive, is their personality. Because that's what matters, that's how you find someone you actually want to spend your time with, or maybe even the rest of your life (AKA marriage)
No it is not a dumb statement. As you have to be beautiful on the inside to make anyone attractive.Looks aren't everything as a good heart makes you better than than a good looking person who is rotten on the inside.
