What does it mean to you when it is said ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Meaning

Literal meaning

Origin

This saying first appeared in the 3rd century BC in Greek. It didn't appear in its current form in print until the 19th century, but in the meantime there were various written forms that expressed much the same thought. In 1588, the English dramatist John Lyly, in his Euphues and his England, wrote:

';...as neere is Fancie to Beautie, as the pricke to the Rose, as the stalke to the rynde, as the earth to the roote.';

Shakespeare expressed a similar sentiment in Love's Labours Lost, 1588:

Good Lord Boyet, my beauty, though but mean,

Needs not the painted flourish of your praise:

Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye,

Not utter'd by base sale of chapmen's tongues

it means that you like it like no matter the oddsWhat does it mean to you when it is said ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?
Every one has their own idea of beauty. Some one will think a dying rose is gorgeous, when you might find it hideous. Every one thinks their own thing.
You are the beholder,so if you are looking at something and you think it is beautiful,it is in your Opinion Only.Other people might not share your opinion.
Every baby is beautiful to its parents (even if it looked ugly and wrinkled to you), and every bride is beautiful to her groom. The perception of beauty depends on who is looking.
to me that means take people as you find them, don't judge by looks but by how they conduct themselves
To one person you could be a beautfiul vision.

To another person you could be a horrible sight.
What may look unattractive to one person is absolutely beautiful to another
One man's trash is another man's treasure.
If someone said it to you ie., a guy he was probably trying to give you a complement, but he's not very good with his words.

See, I would probably take that as an insult, but that's just me.

It just means everyone has a view of what's beautiful. Someone might look at a piece of garbage blowing down the street as beautiful and another person might think it's disgusting.

It's why some guys like blondes and other like brunettes, or some like tall and thin and other short and fat.
It means I think thats ugly, you have bad taste.
it means what you see as beautiful might be what someone else sees as ugly.
It means that people are different and have different tastes.....some people like attractive people, while others like cool personalities, even if they aren't attractive.
We are all human, but we have different opinions, taste, likes %26amp; dislikes. It's also very much like the saying ';One man's treasure is another man's poison';,so some things or someone that may be nice, beautiful and wonderful to you,may not be so to another person.
beauty may not be limited to physical features only.
It means that the concept of beauty is not absolute, but a subjective one...what's beauty to one might not be to someone else.
beauty is buried beneath outward appearances, personality is waiting deep within waiting to be discovered by another soul
